A common grass of deciduous woodlands. The bristly, nodding inflorescence typical of Elymus species makes a nice accent in woodland gardens. Most Elymus grasses are short-lived perennials. Silky Wild Rye actively grows during the spring and fall when soil temperatures are cool.
